EURO CAREX : Cargo Rail Express

Operation › The GEC CAREX

The CAREX European Schippers Group

The GEC CAREX  - Groupement Europeéns des Chargeurs CAREX or CAREX European Shippers Group - brings major airfreight operators together with the cofounders of the various Carex entities to create a forum designed to facilitate discussions with those rail operators likely to be involved in providing the Carex rail service. This association goes about its work autonomously, but remains connected with EURO CAREX and its public-sector members (local authorities, rail infrastructure operators, airport operators, etc.). This involvement focuses primarily on the development of facilities and infrastructure services (development land, terminals, railport/airport interfaces, etc.).

At the time of its inception in June 2009, GEC CAREX  members included the leading global airfreight operators:

  • Air France-KLM
  • FedEx
  • Groupe La Poste
  • TNT
  • UPS
  • WFS

Having updated the volumes of freight to be carried and requested an accurate timetable from RFF, which is responsible for coordination with its European counterparts, the GEC CAREX  has launched a competitive dialogue procedure inviting responses from rail operators. The GEC CAREX will gradually welcome future users of the service as new members.

The Carex project as part of the French government’s "national commitment to rail freight"!
